The Long Walk

How can you not see a journey as a metaphor for life and the journey to enlightenment?

I had a Philosophy instructor, who was also the Clerk of the first Friends' Meeting I ever attended, who was particularly moved by Hermann Hesse's Journey to the East.

It didn't really work for me.

Stephen King's Long Walk does.

King frequently has cracks in his stories that let the light in. Not every story, and I would read his books without them. But, those cracks speak to me.
