This is much better than the beginning indicated. There's a scene where she is at a party and he is dying. And in the middle of it, she sees herself totally alone. It is the other side of the Yes-gasm.

This is a good story.

Some parts are a little trite but there are bits that are very good.

The singularity creates the empty spaces, too.
